The National Taxation Bureau of Taipei, Ministry of Finance, stated that when individuals purchase electronic services such as online games, e-books, and cloud services from offshore electronic service suppliers, the suppliers use the consumer's email address as a carrier to issue cloud invoices. Thus, providing the correct email address ensures consumers do not miss prize notifications for winning cloud invoices or forfeit potential prize money.
The Bureau explained that according to Article 7-1 of the Regulations Governing the Use of Uniform Invoices, offshore electronic service suppliers shall issue cloud invoices when selling electronic services to domestic individuals. To facilitate this process, the Ministry of Finance has designated the consumer's email address provided at the time of purchase as the carrier for storing cloud invoices. Notifications of prize-winning uniform invoices will be sent to this email address. Therefore, the Bureau strongly encourages consumers to provide the correct email address when purchasing electronic services from offshore suppliers.
The Bureau stated that when individuals win a prize with a cloud invoice issued by an offshore electronic services supplier and stored in their email carrier, the Ministry of Finance's e-Invoice Integration Service Platform (hereinafter referred to as the Platform) will send a prize notification to the email address provided at the time of purchase. Recipients can follow the link in the notification to access the Platform and obtain a one-time password, valid for 48 hours. Using this password, they can print a winning electronic invoice certificate via a multimedia kiosk at convenience stores and redeem the prize at designated physical locations. If the email carrier has been linked to a mobile barcode, individuals can download the "Ministry of Finance Uniform Invoice Prize Redemption APP" to skip the process of printing the certificate. Using the built-in prize redemption function, the app users can rely on the platform system to deposit the prize money into their bank account directly.
The Bureau urges the public to ensure that the correct email address is provided when purchasing electronic services from offshore electronic service suppliers. Additionally, to avoid cloud invoice prize notifications being classified as spam, the public is advised to check their email settings. Furthermore, individuals can consolidate the email carrier with their mobile barcode to avoid missing out on prize winnings.
