The First Batch of 2025 Alien Individual Income Tax Refund Will Be Deposited into Taxpayers' Designated Accounts on August 3, 2026

The National Taxation Bureau of Taipei, Ministry of Finance, announced that the first batch of the 2025 alien individual tax refund will be deposited into the taxpayers' designated accounts on August 3, 2026.

The Bureau explains that taxpayers may choose direct deposit by providing the New Taiwan Dollar (NTD) bank or post office account held by themselves, their spouse, or a declared dependent when filing their income tax return. The Bureau will then deposit the refund directly into the designated account. If the account cannot receive the refund for any reason, the Bureau will issue a Treasury Check and notify the taxpayer to claim it. For those who do not choose direct deposit, the Bureau will mail a Treasury Check to the taxpayer, who must then cash it at a financial institution.

The Bureau noted that there are two batches for direct deposit refunds of alien individual income tax: the first batch will be issued on August 3, 2026, and the second batch on September 11, 2026. Taxpayers who selected direct deposit but do not receive their refund on either of the above dates should contact the National Taxation Bureau that has jurisdiction over the residential address reported on their Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) or Entry/Exit Permit at the time of filing. Taxpayers whose registered residence is in Taipei City or Kaohsiung City should contact the National Taxation Bureau of Taipei or the National Taxation Bureau of Kaohsiung, respectively. Taxpayers residing in other cities or counties should contact the local branch office with jurisdiction over their place of residence. (Contact information is provided in the attachment)

The Bureau encourages taxpayers to use direct deposit for refunds, as it is safe, efficient, and convenient. Refunds are transferred directly to your account, reducing processing time, eliminating the need to visit a bank, and minimizing the risk of lost checks. Taxpayers filing an alien individual income tax return are advised to select the direct deposit option when submitting their returns.
